The biggest problem with this movie was that it was based on a game that was rated "Mature" and the movie was rated "PG-13." Why? I guess so they could appeal to a younger audience because younger people play videogames. Terrible mistake. Instead of showing the violence, it doesn't show anything, it just uses sound effects. This movie lacked the brutality and violence that made the videogame so enjoyable. The entire movie I felt like I was waiting for something to happen to pull me into the story, but that feeling never got resolved. Halfway through the movie, everyone in the theatre walked out to get their money back. I stuck around and made the mistake of trying to give this movie a chance and I ended up wasting my money. I was very disappointed.
Ok first, if youre reading to find out if this movie was good the dont read any of the comments below, this movie is strictly fan based, if you are a fan of the game you are gonna have a blast,
if this is your first time ever hearing the name Max Payne then dont even think about watching it cuz you are gonna waste your money. Overall this movie is a great cinematic experies and its everything that you would expect from Max Payne.
Max Payne was pretty much a waste of money and time. Everything about the movie basically sucked. And the ending made me want to kill myself, it was so bad. If you are thinking about going to see this movie, change your mind. You could spend your well earned money doing something way more fun.
Max Payne= terrible movie.
Unless your looking to waste $7-$10 do not see this movie. Slow to start even slower to finish, this movie is a boring spectacle of hollywoods lack of inventivness. The plot twists are almost non existant, its so obvious whats gonna happen next that even a small child wouldn't be surprised by this movie. I wasnt on the edge of my seat for any of this movie, in fact I almost fell asleep during this film because there was nothing to hold my attention.
i give it a One out of Five.
Sincerely,
Movie Man
This movie was missing the special effects!!! I seen the commercials and thought that this movie would be filled with special effects. Especially being adapted from a video game. The cinematography was fitting, but it screamed for more effects! There was even a scene with a little bit fire in the corner, but was never seen and that didn't even make sense. What was the fire and why was it cut so quickly. Wahlberg did a decent job (better than his last release, The Happening). Kunis was very attractive in the role, but didn't really seem to fit. There was just not enough effects to really make this movie strong enough. 2 1/2 stars.
It was a good movie, mostly following the games' story line. The actors played their roles good and there was decent action. The bullet-time that is consistant in the game is NOT good at all in the movie. This, and already knowing the story, were the only two disappointments that I found in the film.
